NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MIXED CHAPMAN SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP

 

This is a partner tournament featuring Male/Female teams playing the Chapman format.  Under this format, both players tee off then they switch and hit each other’s golf ball for the second shot.  The team then picks one of those shots and then alternates until the ball is holed.

The first round of this tournament will be at the Presidio Golf Club in San Francisco, CA and the second round will be on the South Course at Coricia Park Golf Complex in Alameda, CA.

 

About Presidio Golf Club

     The prestigious Presidio golf course opened for public play in 1995 and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the nation's top public courses.  Located just minutes from downtown San Francisco, this 18-hole course offers challenging golf winding through beautiful Eucalyptus and Monterey Pine trees in The City's trademark hills.  Designed with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers, the golf course offers a unique challenge for golfers of all abilities. Originally designed by Robert Wood Johnstone, the course was expanded in 1910 by Johnstone in collaboration with William McEwan, and then was redesigned and lengthened by the British firm of Fowler & Simpson in 1921.

About Corica Park South

Corica Park is located in the beautiful island City of Alameda, California, less than five minutes from the Oakland Airport.  The South Course was recently designed and rebuilt by ienowned architect Rees Jones, and is one of California’s best kept secrets. Named the12th Best Municipal Course in America in 2021 by GOLF Magazine, this Australian Sandbelt style course features expansive and rolling fairways with fun risk-reward options for imaginative shot-making.

COST

Cost for this event is $595 per team which includes golf with cart both days, free range balls and prize fund.  Tournament will be flighted with handicaps based on 60% of the low handicap player and 40% of the high handicap player.

CAN'T PLAY BOTH DAYS?  No Problem!  We will pay out winners in each flight on each day as a Separate Tournament.  Teams who play both days will be able to compete for additional prizes and medals.

FORMAT: Chapman (Mixed Team) - 36 Holes
In this format, two competitors play as partners as one side. Both players on a side tee off from their respective tees. Then Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa. Players then select the better of the second shots, and from that point play alternate shot until the ball is holed. Flights will be determined by combining the Handicap Index of both players on the team. Team Handicaps will be computed by combining 60% of the lower Course Handicap and 40% of the higher Course Handicap.

RULES/TEES:
-USGA Rules of Golf apply during play.
-Players will be assigned to a custom set of tees based on their gender: Men – tees will play approximately 6100 yards; Women – tees will play approximately 4500 yards.

KEY NOTES:
-Players MUST have an active GHIN number to participate. HLTS tournaments are open to amateur golfers who are members of a current club in good standing. The USGA’s definition of an amateur golfer is the standard of HLTS. Participants must meet all the eligibility requirements for the event they are entering. Any member who has not established a current numeric handicap index (CI) is ineligible to win prizes or skins.
-This event requires that participants display proper golf etiquette and behaviors. This would include no denim, no cut-off clothing, the removal of hats when inside facility buildings and no foul language. Players could be given further prohibitions as the club sees fit but those will be provided in the player e-mail. HLTS does have the right to remove anyone for not abiding by these rules at any time. Being removed from property would result in the loss of all funds.
-HLTS reserves their right to adjust any player’s handicap index for the Mixed Team Series events.
